What a day we had today.  Started early making a walk next door to Camping World which is next door to the campground where we are staying.  The reason was to purchase grommets to hold the grates on our stovetop and that should resolve the rattles that we hear when driving.

Then back for breakfast and getting ready to hit the road with the car visiting Santa Fe. Here are some highlights from the day.

As we were entering I40 we noticed several motorcycles and a lot of them looked like police units. As we started down the ramp it was temporarily blocked because of all the motorcycle and police vehicles. Here were just a few and looks like they are going to Washington DC for rolling thunder. click here for more information

The only negative of this because of the stopped traffic and exit ramps and traffic backed up behind the motorcycles traffic ended up being very rubber bandy meaning we would be going at least speed limit and then 15 MPH.  After about 30 minutes into the drive to Santa Fe Virena was struggling with being very uncomfortable.  So, we stopped at an exit and looked to see if there was another route to Santa Fe but we couldn’t find one. The temporary solution was Virena said she wanted to drive and did for 10 or 20 miles and we stopped at a rest center for Ray to use the facilities. As we were getting ready to leave Virena said she wanted me to take over driving. And the rest of the trip went much better because with our stops the bad traffic issue was resolved. Making both of us feel better and more at ease.

Now lets talk about Santa Fe and the sites we experiences.  Here is the view on the way:

And here is what some of the homes looked like.

And here is New Mexico’s eternal flame dedicated to her war Dead .

And next we entered the New Mexico State Capitol building and were surprised by the artwork.

The above picture was as we entered a long hallway and here are pictures looking both ways down the hallway.

We did walk down the hall and into the capitol building.

We felt like we walk into somewhere we were not suppose to be and, Virena, kept looking for security to escort us out, but it was fun. And here is the picture of the front of the Capitol Building .

And on the way home (back to the motorhome) we stopped at Costco and Walmart to restock the pantry.

Something to think about: What is love? Is it an emotion, feeling, or commitment?

Yes, this is a day late, yesterday was a long day driving 350 miles and we drove all the way to Amarillo, Texas the home of Big Texan Restaurant and RV Park. And since we have heard from several sources about Big Texan Restaurant and their 72 oz free steak. Only hook is must eat the whole thing in 1 hour. My better judgement said I would pass on the free steak; however, I did enjoy a 12 oz Ribeye with 2 side, I picked chili that had lots of meat topped with cheese and sweet potato cooked to perfection.

And we spent the night at Big Texan RV Park.

This morning we are heading to Albuquerque with a 18 to 25 MPH wind hitting the front left all day and making a longer day than normally would be. As you can see from the flag in this picture of us entering New Mexico, it is by the building of the right of picture.

Here are some of the pretty wild flower that we along the side of the road. Also, this is the first cactus we have seen on this trip.

Something to think about: Yes, life is difficult, this is not an excuse to wallow in self-pity. Instead we should be thankful for the opportunities we have.

We have arrived in Arlington, Texas driving about 290 miles and it was a beautiful drive. No rain and only issue driving through Dallas the on I-20 is the road is very rough. I don’t understand what it is about the large cities and not taking care of there road. It seems like all the cities we have driven through have the same issue. And we drive through Mississippi and Alabama and the road are in good shape… Ah on to something else.

Just a quick update of the next project that I’ve completed.  Since there is time today, I’ve decided the next project is to make a flat surface for the GPS that am using either the computer with Microsoft’s Streets and Trips or I-pad Google Maps. This means a trip to Lowes. And a Lowes I purchased a 2’ x 3’ x ¾” shelf. The shelf needs to be 22” x 2’ so had Lowes make that cut. Also purchased some PVC fittings, crutch tips, clear paint, and of course some bolts to fasten everything together. And here is the finish project.

Another issue I’ve tried to resolve is the GPS puck that I’ve been using with Streets and trips died while we were driving the other day. Hence I thought while we were in Dallas I would go to Fry’s and by a new one.  Yes there is a Fry’s in Dallas; however, they don’t stock these so Guess I’ll be ordering from Amazon.

For a wonderful end to our day we had dinner with Joe and Lou at Red Lobster. Thank you Joe and Lou for a wonderful evening and dinner, it was great.

Food for thought: If we accept the fact that life is hard then we can get on with Living and enjoying the relationships we have and the beauty around us.
